Ferreries claimed the gold medal in the men’s football at the 2024 Municipal Games in Menorca.

The Municipal Games, which takes in multiple disciplines, acts as a selection for the Island Games, the event Menorca is bidding to host in 2033.

The Island Games take place every two years, with it being the main outlet for the Menorca national team.

In the men’s tournament, there were entries from eight municipalities – Sant Lluis, Es Mercadal, Alaior, Ferreries, Es Castell, Ciutadella, Mahon and Es Migjorn.

Unconnected to the club sides, these are teams made up of people representing their local municipality.

Ferreries made the most of home advantage, with all of the football tournament being held at their ground.

Women’s tournament at the Menorca 2024 Municipal Games

In the women’s tournament, it was Es Castell who triumphed, beating Mahon 3-2 in the final.

There were only four stand-alone municipalities represented in the women’s event, with Team IGA comprising of players from municipalities not represented.
