Fan visit: Summertime rainbow at CE Ferreries
Can’t believe how long it has been since one of these featured on the site, doesn’t time fly.
Anyway, apologies to those who have sent me fan visits – please do keep them coming, and we’ll try and get caught up.
Send any photos and stories in to goals@menorcafootball.com or via @MenorcaFootball on Twitter/X or Facebook.
Thanks to long-time follower Rob for sending these in.
Date: June 2023
Venue: Sant Bartomeu, Ferreries
Hola! Not long home from a Menorca trip, a visit to C E Ferreries was on my to-do list as I was staying there anyway. As it was the end of June, I did not expect to see a game.
Fortunately, there was an under 15s friendly with a club from Majorca. The result was a seven nil-win to the home club. I was more than impressed with their ball skills. their first touch and their movement off the ball. It was a 1 sided affair to be sure with two of the goals coming from ghastly defensive errors, the kind we all like to see (secretly!). Under 15s … really? Beards, tattoos, muscles and that was just their mums! (A little hint of humour there).
The sports facilities at stadium seem quite comprehensive. It’s not just football.
The stadium itself like all Menorca stadia, is fairly basic, but decent quality. And a good view is a certainty.
I was lucky they put the sprinklers on at half time, otherwise that rainbow picture would never have happened (That’s art, innit!).
Editor’s note
As Rob eludes to, the grounds in Menorca are all generally based around one main stand and then three open sides, which of course don’t particularly lend themselves well to ground photos. And if you’re sat in the main stand, there isn’t a great deal to look at.
Community is a big part of football in Menorca, and so it comes as no surprise that even in June, there is kids football taking place on the main ground.
